CEO TALKS TO WASHINGTON POST

FALLS CHURCH, VA.— November 17, 2003

Global TechPro plans to hire 20 people over the next two months. Javid Sonde, chief executive, talked with The Post's Andrea Caumont.

Q. What are some examples of the kind of work your company does and who are your clients?

A. We primarily provide information technology (IT) professional services, including business consulting, application development, database support services, IT infrastructure support and information assurance services. Our primary client is the federal government and we work mostly with civilian agencies. We also have clients in the field of higher education, including Johns Hopkins University, UCLA, Rochester and Princeton. We also do a lot of subcontracting work for some of the big federal integrators like BearingPoint and Unisys.

Q. What do you think are the best reasons for working at your company?

A. We are a group of extraordinary information technology professionals who have joined together to form a company dedicated to fulfilling client needs. We facilitate the growth of our employees through education, experience and cross training. We have a flexible workplace with flexible hours. We have an unusually flat hierarchy, little bureaucracy, a propensity for risk-taking and employees empowered with critical information to improve organizational performance. Every member has the ability to make decisions that really affect the company.

Q. Who owns the company?

A. My sister Shaida Sonde, president, and I are the principals, owners and founders of the company.

Q. What sense of stability can your company offer job candidates?

A. We make a dead-on commitment that as long as people are contributing to the growth of the company, we're committed to that person. Our low employee turnover rate is a testament to that fact. In the last two years, when the economy was down, we grew from four to 20, so we are only expecting things to get better in the future.

Q. What positions do you have available and what level of expertise do you want?

A. Of the 20 positions we have open, we need at least two or three individuals who have experience specifically with Manugistics solutions and technology. Other examples of job openings include enterprise architects and program managers with Earned Value Management skills; Web developers with .NET, J2EE, WebSphere, Cold Fusion and Rational Unified Process skills; a video surveillance engineer; three system administrators and two networking professionals with active directory skills. We are looking for people who have three to 10 years of experience and who possess, or are able to obtain, security clearances.
